About the founders…

Have you ever seen one of those clothing donation bins on the side of the road? What about the days when you see them literally on every corner, but still drive around with the clothes in the back of your car for 6 months? Shamefully, we admit, that has been us before. Good times. Well anyways, Sabbatical Clothing Bank all started with a thought, an idea, and about a 3 hour car ride conversation heading home from White River Camp in Vermont. Remembering the conversation vividly, “What can we do to just volunteer our time? Or give back in a selfless, necessary way in our own communities?.” Sabbatical Clothing Bank. That’s what we can do.

Tyler, one day, decided to research the company of one of the clothing donation bins that we so often see on each and every corner. He, unfortunately, found out that these clothes are being sold to third world countries. Now there is no need to say which company that was, and we are not going to assume that all companies do that, but learning about that one company definitely sparked an idea. What if we, Tyler and Stephani, could start something different, something centered with a more giving and gracious perspective, rather than a consumeristic mindset? So we took that question and ran with it. We started praying about it and for what the future of “this” could even look like. We began researching and planning, preparing for how or if it is something we could even do? We are beyond excited to begin this journey and see what is in store for the Sabbatical Clothing Bank and it’s surrounding communities! We are excited for YOU to be a part of it!

With Love, Tyler and Stephani Spencer
